Dearly beloved in Christ,
We are in the Lenten Season; this is the time for re-dedicating ourselves before the Lord. Traditional purpose of lent is the penitential preparation of the believer through prayer, penance, repentance, almsgiving and self-denial. Lent purified our thoughts, minds and hearts. According to the catholic encyclopedia “the real aim of Lent is above all else, to prepare for the celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ” Lent can also be defined as a time to Deny, Develop and Do. Deny the thoughts of flesh, Develop new habits and strength and Do the will of God.
On Marcy 7th, we will be celebrating our Diocesan Day. This is a time for us to thank God for the divine guidance and blessings received in the past years for the growth and development of the diocese. Let us also remember with gratitude the pioneer leaders and pray for its present leadership, clergy, laity, all the organizations and the mission activities. Unlike last years, there will be no pulpit exchange arranged this year due to pandemic. Let us join our hand together for the growth of our Diocese.
The World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of women of many faith and traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday of March. The country focused this year is “Vanuatu” and the theme is “Build on a Strong Foundation” (Matthew 7:24-27). This year arrangements are being made for the World Day of Prayer celebrations at the Sevika Sanghom diocesan level on Saturday, March 20, 2021 via Zoom platform.
I take this opportunity to thank our 2020 office bearers and executive committee members for their devoted and sacrificial services during this unfamiliar situation. I am happy to welcome and congratulate the new office bears and executive committee members and wish them all the best in their services in His vineyard. Let the God almighty empower and sustain us to live for the glory of His name and the furtherance if His kingdom.
We will be entering into the passion week on March 28. Let us prepare ourselves to hear the call of God. Let this be a transforming time; a total change in our attitude, lifestyle, and to our philosophy of life. Let us continue the lent with a goal of self-edification and purification.
